Position Summary:

The Costing Manager / Assistant Manager-Costing & MIS is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling manufacturing costs to improve operational efficiency and profitability. The role involves product costing, variance analysis, budgeting, inventory valuation, MIS reporting, and supporting management with cost-saving initiatives. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills and experience in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Costing & Cost Analysis

  • Prepare and maintain product costing, BOM costing, and standard costing.
  • Analyze raw material, packing material, labor, and overhead costs.
  • Monitor actual production costs and identify cost variances.
  • Perform monthly cost variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Calculate manufacturing cost per unit and monitor cost trends.

Inventory & Material Cost Control

  • Monitor inventory valuation and stock movement.
  • Analyze inventory losses, wastage, and scrap.
  • Coordinate with Stores, Purchase, and Production for inventory reconciliation.
  • Ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Responsibility for coordinating periodic physical inventory counts, annual stock takes, and inventory reconciliation to ensure inventory accuracy and audit compliance.

Budgeting & MIS

  • Support and co-ordinate the annual budgeting and forecasting.
  • Prepare monthly MIS reports, cost analysis and management reports.
  • Analyze budget vs. actual performance and explain variances.
  • Develop dashboards for key cost performance indicators.

Production Cost Monitoring

  • Monitor machine utilization, production efficiency, and conversion costs.
  • Analyze labor productivity and manufacturing overhead absorption.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through process improvements.

Financial Reporting

  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to costing.
  • Prepare management reports on manufacturing performance.
  • Assist in internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Process Improvement

  • Recommend and implement cost optimization initiatives.
  • Participate in ERP implementation and process automation projects.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for costing processes.
  • Improve data accuracy and reporting efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Cost Accounting, or related field.
  • CMA (Inter/Final), CA (Inter), MBA Finance, or equivalent qualification preferred.

Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience in Cost Accounting or Cost Management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in FMCG, Packaging, Plastic, Food Processing, Automotive, or Manufacturing industries is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems.
  • Experience in ERP implementation, system migration, or process improvement projects is preferred.
  • Experience in leading and supervising a team.

Responsible for planning, overseeing, and continuously improving the Quality Assurance system for raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with the Company’s quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable food safety regulations. This role requires deep technical expertise in food-grade flexible packaging quality systems, international food safety certification, and QA process management. The incumbent will establish the QA function of the Indian subsidiary from the ground up, drive process optimisation, and spearhead the transfer of specialised technical knowledge to the local workforce.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Raw Material Inspection Control: Oversee incoming quality inspection of all raw materials (film, ink, adhesive, solvent) against approved specifications. Coordinate with Procurement and Warehouse on material receiving and release decisions.
  • In-Process Quality Control: Establish and implement in-process inspection schedules for printing, lamination, slitting, and pouch-making lines. Define critical quality parameters (seal strength, film thickness, OTR/WVTR, print registration) and set control limits.
  • Finished Goods Quality Control: Oversee finished goods inspection and AQL sampling plans. Manage product release decisions, Certificate of Analysis (COA) issuance, and coordination with Warehouse on dispatch verification.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting & CAPA: Perform root-cause analysis on complex quality issues using 8D and CAPA methodologies. Manage non-conformance reporting and corrective/preventive action programmes.
  • QMS Establishment & Compliance: Design, implement, and maintain the Company’s Quality Management System in accordance with GHPs, HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, and ISO 14001. Develop and revise QMS documentation including SOPs, work instructions, and quality plans.
  • Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Implement HACCP-based food safety management systems applicable to food contact packaging materials. Ensure compliance with FSSAI regulations and applicable international standards (EU, US FDA) as required by customers.
  • Laboratory & Instrument Management: Oversee the setup, calibration, and operation of in-house QA laboratory instruments (tensile tester, seal strength tester, OTR/WVTR instrument, print inspection system). Plan and manage calibration schedules for all measurement equipment.
  • Customer Quality Management: Manage customer quality requirements and complaints. Prepare formal 8D/CAPA reports, coordinate with relevant departments, and ensure timely resolution and closure.
  • Knowledge Transfer & Team Development: Conduct specialised training programmes for local QA technicians and production personnel on quality standards, inspection techniques, and food safety compliance. Transfer parent group’s QA systems, test methods, and best practices to the Indian operation.
  • General Management: Manage QA department personnel, prepare annual work plans and departmental budgets, and participate in management review activities. Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Quality Assurance in the flexible packaging or food packaging manufacturing industry.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial QA role with direct responsibility for QMS implementation and team management.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing QA functions in greenfield or start-up manufacturing operations is preferred.
  • Experience in managing customer audits, regulatory inspections, and third-party certification audits (ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000 / BRC Packaging).
  • Proficient in English and Thai language.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of flexible packaging materials, food contact material regulations, and quality production systems.
